Review of Your Name. (2016) by Paul A — 19 Mar 2017
Thankfully, I went into this after watch Donnie Darko a few weeks earlier, so I was already accustomed to the theories of time traveling and alternate realities. If you have a hard time grasping those two things-this plot will be hard to wrap your head around.
That being said, this was honestly the best movie I have seen in a long time. The story was original and gives the audience (those outside of Japan) a lesson on the more rural cultures while still making it fit in with the story.
I was definitely a emotional rollercoaster, so if you like your emotions being played with this film is for you. Of course I have to mention the animation: each frame was a piece of art I could honestly hang around my house.
This movie was beautiful from start to finish and certainly outdid the western animation Moana in my eyes. Really the only critique I have is the story being somewhat complex for some, but the symbolism is there to explain it if you pay attention.
