Lamorisse films epic scenes in the marshes of the Petit Camargue with the small ponies that are said to roam there - and the result is a beautiful 'boys' own' story, though perhaps a modern childrens' story wouldn't have quite that ending.
without sugarcoating it, this still remains a beautiful little story, filmed spectacularly.
