Review of Where Is Kyra? (2018) by Shane A — 17 Apr 2018
This is a fantastic movie. More so for someone who's ever been in this situation, knows someone who has or fears being in it oneself. I saw this movie upon it's first day of release and was on the edge of my seat when the Detective visited Kyra's mother's apartment near the end of the movie.
Once it was over, the audience clapped. Obviously, this film being in limited release at art house establishments is what hinders greater reviews. Only a viewer who can relate to the desperation in this woman's life will find this film to be an insightful and cautionary tale.
Not everyone who's broke and down on their luck in life is put there by bad choices they've made in life. Never have I seen a greater performance from Michelle Pfeiffers character; struggling with an all too common problem in life I hope most viewers never have to encounter themselves.
