Review of What They Had (2018) by Larry S — 09 Jan 2019
Terrific all-star cast and a remarkable directorial and writing debut from Elizabeth Chomko mark this film. Can be difficult to watch at times, as it centers on the horrific effects of dementia, not only for the afflicted person but their loved ones as well.
The dialogue is exceptional here, the characters very believable, and somehow Chomko finds a way of mixing in some humor amidst the elements. Keep some tissues close by for the final 20 minutes of the movie.
