Review of Venus in Fur (2013) by Joe S — 17 Jul 2014
Check out the mostly positive reviews of this movie for a taste of what it's about and how it's about it, but you must see it: it shot to the top of the list of my favorite movies for quite some time.
With the small qualification that I'm a sucker for art that blurs the boundaries between art and life -- Resnais' "Mon Oncle d'Amerique" comes to mind, as does, you know, Proust -- the screenplay is incredibly witty, and there are even scenes from "The Bacchae" in it, which warmed this old pagan's heart.
I think it's Polanski's masterpiece.
