Review of Umberto D. (1952) by Benedikt W — 17 Oct 2007
A beautiful classic del Neorealismo Italiano that deserves a lot more attention. Take a story about a struggling pensioner who's a profoundly humane person, take the visual inventiveness of the Neorealist school and toss that up with the emotive power of a little dog and you have one of the most heart-wrenching stories in cinema!
