Review of The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill (2003) by Jialan W — 18 Jun 2009
This is a superb film yet lighthearted which opens up the world of a flock of wild parrots in San Francisco and the man who grows to know and love them. Mark, the film's narrator and main human subject, is an engaging character whose musings on life are are clever, balanced, and deeply thoughtful.
The film also does a great job of portraying the parrots - not as exotic curiosities but intelligent creatures who are full of personality and emotion. It manages to be thoroughly engrossing and though-provoking while retaining a light touch.
