Review of The Town that Dreaded Sundown (2014) by Francisco G — 24 Oct 2014
Not sure I understand what this film was trying to do. It takes place in the present, but everyone is running around in 70's attire. It has some really nice long shots and cool scenes (killer in the wheat field), but for some reason is consumed with dark red, blue, and orange lighting.
It doesn't have the suspense of a giallo, nor is it polished like a Nic Winding Refn Gosling film, so it's just obnoxious and a pain in the eyes. It also has Anthony Anderson as a sheriff. Take that however you will.
Still, the killer looks great and the kills are brutal (train tracks). I'd recommend it only if you have to.
