Review of The Master Gunfighter (1975) by Allan C — 18 Oct 2014
Hilariously awful wester from "Billy Jack" star Tom Laughlin. This time Laughlin is the tile master gunfighter, who also caries a samurai sword. Like Billy Jack, he's a man of peace, but others just can't help but push him to violence.
Ineptly directed by Laughlin's son, the film is an absolute mess, but in the best sort of way for connoisseurs of bad cinema. Ron "Superfly" O'Neal plays Laughlin's nemesis, Barbara Carrera (who I'd forgotten about) plays the love interest and Burgess Meredith narrates the film.
There were also quite a few recognizable character actors of the era and Lalo Schifrin provided the score. Really a zero star film, but I go two stars of ironic enjoyment out of it.
