Review of The Lady (2011) by James-Masaki R — 24 Jun 2012
Luc Besson directing a movie with Michelle Yeoh as the lead sounds like an awesome action film, but this is far from it. A biopic of the life of Aung San Suu Kyi, Yeoh is perfectly cast (even though she isn't Burmese), as a very heartfelt look at the life of one of the most important positive political figures in our lifetime.
I didn't really get all the negative reviews. It's a compelling and inspiring story, and those hoping for 'more', well, they didn't Hollywood-ize the story. This is exactly how it went down, without any sugar-coating.
