Review of The House on Sorority Row (1982) by Ian B — 06 Jul 2009
One of the better slasher flicks to come out of the early 80's thanks to some actual suspense and a decent cast. The story plays out like oh so many other slasher movies....someone is accidently killed, good looking teens try to cover it up, they start getting knocked off one-by-one, etc.
So the movie might be a little predictable, but director Mark Rosman gives Sorority Row a great, creepy atmosphere and some genuinely suspenseful moments. The performances are also a lot better than what you'd expect to find in a movie like this.
The only downside is that it's a bit anti-climactic and the ending is kind of a disappointment. Otherwise this is a pretty decent flick filled with some creepy moments, a cheesy mystery, and above-average performances.
