Review of The Grey Zone (2001) by Kgaard . — 22 Feb 2004
Another Holocaust film, but it gives a completely different view of any other movie about the Holocaust that I've seen. This instead focuses on the lives of a group of Jews that work in the gas chambers and receive special privileges in the concentration camps that were unheard of at the time. The lives they live is at times shocking. They plan to revolt because the average span of work for this type of job is only 4 months.
The ending is pretty depressing and left me feeling pretty hollow. But you learn that what they did was a huge achievement and they put all of their heart into it.
My only complaint is the acting, I thought several of the characters were poorly acted.
A powerful film.
