Review of The Gray Man (2007) by Kerry K — 15 Oct 2010
The true story of Albert Fish, a charming grandfather on the outside and a sick, twisted child murderer on the inside. The film focuses on the kidnapping and murder of Grace Budd and the subsequent arrest and execution of Fish.
There are no explicit violent scenes as it is all more or less implied and spoken of, nothing really graphic is seen. Personally, I would have liked to have delved more into the mind of the character, and try to understand what made him the way he was, some of it is hinted at but it only really scratches the surface.
I was left feeling a bit unsatisfied and I hope one day a film is made that really goes deeper into his mind. That said, the acting was terrific and gave me the chills in places. A fascinating story, but let down by this film unfortunately.
