Review of The Good German (2006) by Tyler H — 29 Jan 2008
A very good nod to film noir of the '40s and '50s. It really feels like watching a detective or spy movie from 50 years ago. In it you have George Clooney as Jake Geismer, a war correspondent sent to Berlin to cover the peace conferences and the war's aftermath.
He encounters his ex-lover Lena who is now banging his driver Tully (played by a mean Tobey McGuire). Tully has black market connections which include the Russians and he winds up dead. Jake begins to unfold a conspiracy which Lena is right in the middle of and could have severe consequences for the peace talks.
Keeps you happy until the end.
