Review of The Giant Claw (1957) by Gus S — 20 May 2008
A movie with the potential to be a top-of-the-line, sci-fi thriller. The story and plot are well thought-out with one of the most unique creature origins in b-movie history. However, the biggest flaw is the bird itself which looks like a Muppet and gives the film an almost "parody" feel to it.
There is a rumor that the filmmakers wanted Ray Harryhausen to do the effects which could have sealed this b-picture as one of the greats. The ending is anti-climactic, but although the final shot is one of the best in the movie.
Definitely worth your time if your into this type of movie.
