Review of The Fantasticks (2000) by William B — 30 Aug 2007
The story of the musical is strange and great. Some of the music is odd and choppy, but other songs and at least moments of all songs are beautiful and poignant. The acting is hammy, as one would expect from a musical movie, and the story seemed to move extremely quickly, almost as if the director were used to one-act play competitions.
Many of the deleted scenes should have been left in the movie, in this critic's opinion. However, one tends to fall in love with the story, even taking into account the character Louisa's almost ridiculous naivete'.
You will not be able to get "Try to Remember" out of you head, but why would you want to?
