Review of The End of Violence (1997) by Jarid W — 27 Aug 2009
Iâ??m pretty sure that inside this art film is a nifty little thriller. And Iâ??ve gotta be honest, Iâ??m not really sure what really is going on half the time. Maybe I wasnâ??t paying attention but I just couldnâ??t make the connection between some of these characters.
Bill Pullman is excellent as always. I love how his first interaction with real violence sends him into the arms of immigrant gardeners led by Henry Silva and I now want a Pullman Weed Blower Action Figure.
I would have loved to have seen Gabriel Byrneâ??s relationship with his father Sam Fuller explored more. More Udo Kier in that castaway role would have been nice but when is more Udo Kier ever a bad thing? Didnâ??t dig Loren Deanâ??s investigator or his relationship with the actress.
And what was the deal with the maid storyline? Maybe I need another viewing, but I just didnâ??t get this one. VF.
