Review of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (2007) by Ahmed F — 13 Oct 2009
This is probably one of the best cinematic films ever made. It is spectacular. The strong performances from the entire cast and fabulous script aside, this film is a true visual masterpiece. Every single shot is used to its best advantage and sets of the story fabulously and each shot can also stand alone as fabulous cinema.
The first half of the film is so uncomfortable with the extreme use of the pov shot, but that just makes the second half of the film that much more effective when the camera opens up into Jean-Do's imagination.
The story itself is absolutely incredible and the telling of it makes it even more so.
