Review of The Dark Side of the Heart (1992) by Kevork O — 11 Mar 2012
Buñuel's Spanish surrealist tradition was alive and well in 1990s Argentina. Passion and the absurd mix in this film about a penniless poet trying to save money for a prostitute he has fallen in love with in his obsessive search for a woman 'who can fly' (Those who can't are disposed of at the push of a button through a trap-door to nowhere in his bed).
In the end, the poet is disposed of through the same trap-door by his levitating love-interest, eventually finding his heart in the process..... Go see it if you can find it.
