Review of The Class (2007) by Dan W — 13 Mar 2009
This is a complex, subtle, very good film of cultures in a school. There are many tough situations and Francois Begaudeau presents a full portrait of a teacher with strengths and flaws. There are a few lowly developed parts, but most parts are well developed.
The students, teachers and principal are finely naturalistic and the plot well deveops the theme of racial, ethnic and class conflicts. The actor playing the principal does a good job portraying smartness and toughness for a small role.
We have schools in USA that are muchly worse than this one.
