Review of The Brotherhood of Satan (1971) by Liah Natas — 30 Jul 2008
A poor movie, but not because of the way it portrays satanists and satanism. After all, Robert Fuest's THE DEVIL'S RAIN was an even more cartoonish depiction of devil worship, and that film had Church of Satan founder Anton LeVay as a consultant. The very nature of devil worship invites artists (be they film directors, musicians or whatever) to portray the subject excessively and with a touch of tongue-in-cheek; just look at black metal bands.
The problem with BROTHERHOOD isn't that it's inaccurate, it's that it's ineptly made. Skip it.
