Review of The Bed Sitting Room (1969) by Trent R — 06 Apr 2009
Exceptional post-apocalyptic social satire with key Goons minus Sellers, Pete & Dud, a fresh young Marty Feldman in drag, and much of the heights of British cinema capering about real post-industrial waste in rags.
Richard Lester, riding high after Petulia, willfully drives his career firmly into the ground with this small masterpiece. Visually fascinating, this consistently defies it's stage origins and ends with as much absurd optimism as it has absurd pessimism throughout.
