Review of The Battle of Shaker Heights (2003) by Joakim A — 27 Mar 2008
After owning Project Greenlight Season 2 for a few years, I finally got around to watching the entire season of the show and this film... I am a Shia LaBeouf fan, but to be honest, I wanted the film to have more drama in it - they chopped all the father/son scenes and all the drama to make it this cutesy coming-of-age tale instead.
I'm all for coming-of-age films, but it would have been nice for the film to have more of a point than Kelly having a crush on his friend's sister when there was a perfectly nice (and age-appropriate) girl working with him at the grocery store.
But, whatever. Even though I would have rather seen a more dramatic version of the film, on a whole I still enjoyed it. Good cast, some good dialogue here and there... good movie. Not great, though. But it didn't look like it was ever going to be great.
.. which is too bad, b/c Greenlight was a great show.
