Review of The Bandit (1996) by Richard D — 07 Aug 2015
A notorious bandit leader is released from prison after 35 years only to discover that his village has been destroyed by a dam and his girl has run off with his best friend, who it turns out was responsible for sending him to prison.
He goes to Istanbul to find him and get revenge. He hooks up with a young, upcoming criminal who helps him find his friend. A great film that blends gritty realism and an odd sort of fantasy violence to good effect.
