Review of The Assassin's Code (2018) by Writeval — 17 May 2018
A well-done crime thriller with more under the hood than most of its genre, a lot more character-driven than the shoot-em-up trailer would suggest. Justin Chatwin's rookie detective is cocky and conflicted, Peter Stormare (from "Fargo") gives a great monologue in one of the best standalone scenes I've ever seen; and veteran radio guy Mark Thompson (Mark from the KLOS "Mark and Brian" show) is fantastic as Justin's captain and Justin's surrogate father figure.
The dialog is smart and at times funny, it's beautifully shot, and the jazz-noir soundtrack is knockout.
