Review of Tetro (2009) by Vahan S — 16 Oct 2009
Tetro is an indulgent, ocassionally meandering and excessive, but richly beautiful and evocative film that explores themes of family like only Coppola does. Dark, brooding, densely emotional and operatic, it's a stunningly beautiful and multidimensional film to watch, using multiple art forms to tell its tragic story.
The sense of time and place are blurred, the gorgeous black and white cinematography practically drips off the screen, and the soundtrack is fantastic and evocative. It's not perfect and has its clumsy moments, but this is a film for a lover of film.
