Review of Teknolust (2002) by Joel C — 28 Jul 2008
This is one of the strangest movies I have ever seen. The title makes it sound like a cheap erotic thriller (not that there's anything essentially wrong with that...) but it really isn't erotic, nor a thriller. It's... hmm... What is it? If I was supplying a blurb for the DVD jacket, I'd call it "a 21st century feminist version of VIDEODROME"... yeah, we'll go with that.
Tilda Swinton is fantastic playing multiple roles (kind of sort of) and Jeremy DAvies gives one of those performances that would be awful in a less bizarre film, but it works quite nicely here. OH! And if you watch TEKNOLUST, you'll get to see great supporting work by James Urbaniak and Thomas Jay Ryan, two of the best actors you've never heard of.
I highly recommend TEKNOLUST.
