Review of Tales of the Grim Sleeper (2014) by Randy L — 27 Apr 2015
Either they don't know, don't show, or simply don't care about what goes on in the hood -.
Ice Cube.
Boyz N Tha Hood, 1990.
That's the underlying theme in this chilling tale. Twenty five years worth of murder being committed by someone with strong ties within a community that is being ravaged by poverty, drugs, prostitution, and gang violence.
...and then you add in a serial killer...
The LAPD did nothing for 25 years. They caught the perpetrator by accident in 2010 and he still has yet to go to trial - 4 years later.
There were daughters, sisters, mothers, aunts, cousins and friends all lost senselessly b/c they were black, female, and poor. At the very end, one of the key players says something even more chilling: they caught the guy and he's in jail. But the killings won't stop with his capture.
That is frightening in and of itself.
Only in America...
