Review of Synecdoche, New York (2008) by Wesley R — 21 Feb 2010
Very good film. Best film I have ever seen. As usual with Charlie Kaufman, it's full of Jungian psychology/philosophy. Central to the message was a compatiblist conception of determinism. Fate exist but is also created by oneself.
Thus fate and free will are closely connected. Even thou everyone dies and seemingly cannot avoid fate, but no-one knows what their end is and therefore instead of letting yourself go, the best strategy is still act the best you can as if there's no fate.
