Review of Starchaser: The Legend of Orin (1985) by Paul T — 22 Nov 2006

One of my favourite animated movies while I was growing up during the '80s, this is the simple story of a slave boy who escapes from his underground mining world to discover an unimaginable adventure awaiting him on the surface.

Aided by a smuggler and his robot sidekick, he attempts to save his world and a princess by using a magical glowing sword........ wait, does this sound awfully familiar? Yep, it's a bare-faced rip-off of Star Wars, but done in a decent enough way that most kids won't care, and that's who it's aimed at despite some violent content you wouldn't see in today's kids cartoons.
