Review of Standard Operating Procedure (2008) by Kiran E — 18 Nov 2008
An important though disturbing prod into one of the most horrific embarrassments this country has faced in the last several decades. Morris' re-enactments are frightening, but even more scary are the interviews with the key people involved, some whom cry naive and some whom have no remorse.
Lynndie England- the girl who appeared in half of the torture pictures with her thumbs up- literally states that if she could go back and change things she wouldn't, due to the fact that her bastard son would have never been concieved.
As Americans, we don't have to embrace these apologies (or as the case may be, excuses), but we must acknowledge the fact that we are still terrifyingly human.
