Review of Somers Town (2008) by Chris W — 01 Feb 2009
This simple, gentle comedy drama from Shane Meadows is no great departure, and at 75 mins is a brisk affair(it was funded as a promotional piece for Eurostar), but as with all Meadows work, it has a lyrical pace and a great deal of charm.
Beautifully shot in Black and white, with a great soundtrack by the superb Gavin Clarke, it feels like a Truffaut movie(it owes a lot to Jules et Jim)and has a great cast.
