Review of Smash Cut (2009) by Stef B — 11 Sep 2009
I had hoped for high things from this homage to the works of Herschell Gordon Lewis. Sadly it didn?t quite live up to expectations. Don?t get me wrong I understood going in that this would be a low budget romp.
I was just expecting a little more comedy. The plot revolves around a horror director whose starts killing people and using their body parts as props in his new flick. Amusing to start with but after a certain point, the movie seems to get on a treadmill and I found myself getting a little bored.
David Hess gives us the psycho-killer experience as only he can. Porn scarlet Sasha Grey can clearly act. But sadly she would probably have had a more challenging role in Face Invaders 4 than she does in this.
There are some nice cameos from Michael Berryman, Ray Sager and Herschell Gordon Lewis himself.
