Review of Sleepless Night (2013) by Troy M — 11 May 2012
**My review of "Sleepless Night" from Fantastic Fest 2011** Wow. An absolutely amazing French thriller, think "Die Hard" in a night club, as tight and energetic as the best in this genre.
The story barely stops moving, but manages to give us flashes of humor and pathos as our cop hero tries to get his son out of the clutches of some bad dudes. Wonderful cast of scuzzy Euro villain types, with top notch direction and editing and some staggeringly choreographed chase and fight sequences.
You bet Hollywood will remake this one - and even if they do, adrenaline junkies should seek the original out. Now showing only at the Alamo South, you owe it to yourself to see it before it goes away - for story and heart, it presents an equally energetic but ultimately more satisfying action experience than this year's other break-out genre import, "The Raid".
