Review of Sicario (2015) by David J — 12 Jul 2016
Emily Blunt and Benicio Del Toro lead an excellent cast and crew in Sicario, a thriller depicting the State's war on drugs and the grey matter between the truth and whats written in the final report. Blunt in particular is amazing, and her excellence is even more critical in a film that doesn't provide a whole ton of dialogue.
The film actually doesn't feature a ton of action. But its combination of music, photography, and prolonged set-up scenes build up incredible suspense. With such a score, I was never bored.
With an intelligent plot, a dark but emotionally tense theme, and a striking ending, Sicario is the best film of 2015.
