Review of Sheba, Baby (1975) by Steve S — 15 Feb 2010
Unfortunately, Sheba Baby is nowhere near in the league of Pam Grier action greats like Coffy, Foxy Brown, or even Friday Foster. When the mob strong arms her father outta business, Grierâ??s private eye is forced to take matters into her own hands.
Itâ??s a typical kinda setup, but the film lacks punch. No profanity, no violence, no nudity. The action sequences are all pop smoke fall i.e. bland bland bland. The only standout is Christopher Joyâ??s ridiculous â??Number Oneâ?? outta-the-trunk loan shark.
Heâ??s way overthetop and hilariously squealish. So, disappointing. Sigh. VF.
