Review of Santa Sangre (1989) by Tom R — 24 Jan 2008
More of surreal, visually stunning and poetic Norman Bates - style slasher epic than a journey to enlightenment is Jodorowski's SANTA SANGRE. Again pretty much everything is perfect in this film. The acting is amazing as is the genius of Simon Boswell's score, some nice Argento-type murder set piece s thrown in for good measure and the usual mix of Jodorowski's trademark ingredients (religion, deformed/handicapped people, metaphors, etc).
Top marks yet again for another Jodorowski film that will never leave the mind of the viewer.
