Review of RoboCop (1987) by Richard C — 21 Feb 2014
This review is for the extended cut of the film not the 1987 video release. Alex murphy is a good cop who on transfer to a new precinct in detriot is partnered up with officer anne lewis. Whilst investigating a crime he is brutally murdered but a company named o.c.p is running the robocop programme (a programme designed to create a supercop style robotic cop) and therefore he is brought back to life as robocop.
Paul verhoeven's dark view of a future where crime has all but taken over the steets and all hope is lost contains some stellar performances (especially peter weller as murphy, nancy allen as anne lewis and kurtwood smith as the evil clarence boddicker) it set a huge benchmark for future films of its type and is one of the greatest ever made.
