Review of Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008) by Amaya R — 03 Nov 2010
This film is amazing. Don't be fooled by the criticism. If you like operas (and I do mean operas, not just musicals), and you find beauty in the grotesque, you'll most definitely love this film.
Most of the film is sung, to fantastically symphonic score, and great lyrics (any 'speaking' is mostly done in the form of recitatives). The visuals are stunning and graphic. Definitely a Gothic Opera Masterpiece.
The only downside might be that the plot tends to slow down a bit sometimes, but overall, this film is destined to be a favored cult-classic.
