Review of Raavanan (2010) by Ashish M — 21 Jun 2010
Raavanan is proof that no matter how well taken the cinematography and actors of a film, the most important ingredient is how the tale is told and relations built, and it s largely to its little inconsistency in telling its tale that Raavanan fails to reach the heights it should have.
With spectacular cinematography, the realistically taken magic of Mani Ratnam, and some wonderful acting again by Vikram (though sometimes his continuous chanting did get a tad annoying), Raavanan still fails to really reach its potential until the final clash when Beera launches his all out attack on Dev.
From then on to the end, simply a spectacular ride, and THAT is when it truly become a Mani Ratnam movie. Too bad the rest of the movie fails to be on par. All in all, Raavanan nowhere near realizes its full potential.
