Review of Quintet (1979) by Guillaume H — 19 Oct 2016
I was excited at the prospect of seeing Altman's intellectual framings transposed unto a Dystopian setting. While I absolutely love the whole set and the cinematography, im not convinced this was the right movie for Altman to embrace slowness (its almost a slasher in theory).
Under-exposition is also slightly frustrating. Still, its not to be missed as its original and beautifully set, but go in with patience, less for action but with a focus on the internal, on what goes on inside the mind of the people who live in this world and who play this game of Quintet.
Also, for fans of Bergman, its a treat to see Bibi Anderson in a different context.
