Review of Quadrophenia (1979) by Kelly H — 24 Jul 2010
â??Arrgh fuckin ell! Whatâ??ve you done! you cuntâ??s, youâ??ve killed my scooter!â?? Jimmy after being knocked of his scooter by â??mr fucking postmanâ??
I LOVE THIS FILM! In fact it is probably my favourite film. Phil Daniels puts in a perfect performance of teenage angst as Jimmy, and the soundtrack from the Who et al is superb. The film is probably responsible for the re-emergence of the Mod/scooter scene in the early eighties; and inspired me to attend the Morecambe scooter rally in 1985 which was an excellent adventure. First saw it in a cafe in Manchester, around 1984, called Cloud Nine where all the Mods used to congregate, and have watched it numerous times since.
