Review of Psychokinesis (2018) by Chris G — 19 Jun 2018
After watching Train to Busan I knew I wanted to see more movies directed by Yeon Sang-ho. Psychokinesis is a much different story but just as good. The story was about a serious situation, which is sadly often overshadowed and not in the news, yet incorporated a ton of good humor.
Some of the humor was childish, but still made me laugh. I think it is wrong to compare this movie to the likes of the Avengers or Justice League. I think this movie is more about the father daughter relationship and the obstacles they have to endure.
After Mr. Shin receives his powers the movie ignores his power's origin. Sang-ho doesn't want to focus on how he got the powers and the mystery behind them, but how Mr. Shin would use them. I think the closest "superhero" movie comparison would be Hancock.
The character development was amazing, as well as the acting. The visual and special effects for this movie were also great.
