Review of Populaire (2012) by Nick R — 11 Jun 2013
Charming but sentimental period drama that manages to create interest in the business of typing and typewriters. Romain Duris brings his usual mix of weasel and cat to his role. Bérénice Bejo does a lot with the relatively small role she is given.
The period costume and music is perfect, and a little fun is had with changing social mores. The "action" sequences are well shot and edited to sustain interest. Enjoyable, but don't expect depth.
