Review of Pontypool (2009) by Ian C — 10 Oct 2012
This one hit me on a psychological level that classic horror films haven't touched in a long time- the first half of the movie I find particularly wonderful in that we don't see the action- we're stuck with the main cast as the horror unfolds off screen, wondering just what is going on.
The feeling of helplessness that's evoked from this is rather impressive, and for a time left me just as curious and, almost, afraid as the protagonists were as they wondered if the world really was falling apart around them.
Ultimately, I found the premise of the disease's transmission to be a little... well, silly, even for a zombie movie. In my opinion it detracted only slightly, and somehow managed to make the disease sound even more frightening.
To all who love horror films but are fed up with just straight gore that so many studios put out these days, I gladly recommend this movie. Check it out!
