Review of Phenomena (1985) by Joe M — 24 May 2006
Not to be confused with John Travolta's crap movie. This is actually a good movie. An Italian horror clasic from Dario Argento, and this is easily his best film. The man who brought Susperia, Deep Red, Opera, brings Jennifer Connelly (yes, that Jennifer Connelly) into an all girls school with a murderer on the loose.
Great atmosphere and music (supplied by the always reliable Goblin) adds to this fantastic foray into international horror. Truly gruesome and well written. Intense, graphic and innovative as Connelly uses her powers in attempt to survive the bloodbath and catch the killer.
Plot os a mess at times, and the ending may go down as one of the most disappointing, but it isn't enough to make this film anything less than awesome.
