Review of Phase IV (1974) by Douglas P — 03 Sep 2008
Other than the ending which comes out of left field, Phase IV is an entertaining little sci-fi romp that screams midnight movie - the exact time I started watching it. The ant footage is creepy and Saul Bass had a great vision and style of how to put this film together, not to mention some intense sound design.
It's a shame Bass didn't do more feature directorial work as Phase IV is certainly a step above many of the schlocky "when nature attacks" films that popped up throughout the 60's and 70's.
