If there are ten great film scores out there, then one of them is the one Jerry Goldsmith wrote for this film. The film doesn't quite come off as well on me as an adult - the 'Gift from the Sea' section in particular seems like a strange way to deal with that sequence of the book.
It is a very very fine film though.
