Review of Off the Black (2006) by Ryan S — 10 Jul 2007
A decent little independent movie. Nolte is great as a grizzly, old umpire who has a bit of a drinking problem. Morgan is also good, and this film really is a coming of age story for his character, and looks at the bond he forms with Nolte's character.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of small niches to characters that are not fleshed out, and some random occurrences that feel forced and unnecessary. Worth viewing if you have the chance, but nothing to seek out if you don't.
