Review of Night Gallery (1969) by Brett B — 17 Dec 2011
The pilot for Rod Serling's follow-up to "The Twilight Zone" is very much in that same macabre, unsettling vein. The Joan Crawford segment is notable for being Steven Spielberg's directorial debut, and while the limitations of late '60's primetime television don't allow for a whole lot of creativity, there are flashes of the sort of director Spielberg would grow into.
Serling's writing for the entire show is very strong, exhibiting the same kind of thoughtful approach to the supernatural that characterized so much of his earlier work.
